I can literally remember when I discovered music at the library...the Fall of 1990. Just getting back on my feet but didn't have transportation of my own so I had to catch the bus to different destinations and something told me to just go to the local library on the South Side (South St. Louis that is) and that is when I discovered the treasure...hundreds of CDs at the library and the cool part you could check them out. The first CDs I checked out: Wind Machine's "Voice in the Wind" (still to this day one of my favorite albums) and Peter White's "Caravan of Love". I took them home and listened to them over and over. I don't know what was the thrill, discovering Wind Machine and Peter White or just knowing I just found a way to discover new or old music.

Fast forward to today, although most of my music comes Amazon, iTunes, eMusic, Iodapromonet, and the Goodwill I still discover gems at our library. Just yesterday I was there and I came across music from Louis Armstrong to Tom Petty. This year has been a year of turning the clock back in regards to how I gather music and how I really, and I do mean REALLY take the time to listen to music. This year is also the year I began listening to more traditional Jazz and looking to my people to help me learn about the music that I have to admit helps meditate, write, and just chillax.

The past two years I was so busy producing podcasting that I really wasn't taking the time to sit back and listen to the music. I was so busy trying to please other and I forget how to just "listen" to music. The artist I found last night at the library were...

MLFM episode #31 - My Last Time...For Real This Time.

I tell myself whenever I produce an extended podcast that this will be the last one...and I mean it from the bottom of my heart...until I begin hearing music and I know me. I say I will do a part two and I never complete it. So then I come to that crossroad- should I make a music podcast that is close to 90 minutes or even close to 2 hours. I say "Yes" because of one reason. School.

This year school and work is a pistol but I know I have to get this out of my system. For close to 3 years I have used two artist's music tracks when doing my intro and ending voice-overs and I think it was about time I featured some of the work of Todd Kelley and Nicolay. At first it was going to be a podsafe show then while walking and humming the track "Hey" it hit me to put some music in the playlist by Nicolay and Todd "The Big La" Kelley. When it comes to Todd Kelley his instrumental mixes has always been a set of music that influenced me when it comes to writing. Whether if was my show notes or just writing in general. Nicolay's music, I have to admit I have his music and I know his instrumental tracks is are really cool but I never made myself just kick back and just relax to his music. So this time I made myself gather some of his music and at the last moment purchase The Foreign Exchange, "Connected" instrumental album which I knew when that happened I would have to squeeze some more tracks in the line up.

I have music peppered in here by Michael Franks from his new album, "Time Together", a couple of favorites of mine by DJ Center featuring Middle Child and Apes on Tapes, and a couple of free download tracks from Iodapromonet and All About Jazz. I also came across three tracks via YouTube. One track I learned from a Google+ fellow geek and from there I found two tracks that when I heard them I had to rush over to iTunes and download these tracks.

The results is a music playlist close to 2 hours of music so as always, kick back, relax and enjoy the music journey.

p.s. So this time is my last time putting together an extended playlist like this...I mean it this time...for real...I hope.

Getting My Geek Groove Back

Hello everyone! ^_^

Long before my own blogs I used to have a "little" blog called "TechMusicGospel" over at Vox.com (you are missed) where I would share links in regards tech stories I came across, new and seasoned musicians I enjoyed and great devotional and links to messages I heard that day. Over the years I let myself drift from that format and in the end I'm upset with myself for allowing this to happen.

Well as of now I am getting back to that format because for me that is where I found my greatest joy: discovering and sharing valuable information with the masses. Some people have certain gifts and I believe this is what God has blessed me with because as Dr. Charles Stanley says, "Are you a 'reservoir' or a 'channel'. I have allowed myself to become a consumer, constantly checking my twitter and facebook account on the minute every minute and not creating and sharing so in the next couple of weeks I will be revamping my "TechMusicGospel" site.
